THE MYSTERY OF CHRIST – PART FOUR
This is from my book “MYSTERY OF CHRIST”
I would hope that everyone would attempt to totally disprove what is written here. Show where Christ refutes it all, or He did not say it, or that He did not mean it. Not by your “theology”, or your “bias” or your “opinion” but rather by hard Scriptural statements.
This debate requires not only intellectual honesty, but Scriptural integrity and honesty as well, something that appears to be lacking in today’s modern Christian circles. Remember the modern definitions well for esoteric, Gnostic and mystery.
WAS JESUS REALLY A GNOSTIC?
In Chapter One we brought out the definition for the words Gnostic and esoteric, because they join together in the Bible – that is, a direct knowledge of the Godhead and who they are, and that this knowledge is only given to the few who will diligently search the matter out. To refresh your memory, here is the definition of Gnosis:
“Gnosis (γνῶσις) refers to knowledge of the second kind. Therefore, in a religious context, to be “Gnostic” should be understood as being reliant not on knowledge in a general sense, but as being especially receptive to mystical or esoteric experiences of direct participation with the divine. Indeed, in most Gnostic systems the sufficient cause of salvation is this “knowledge of” (“acquaintance with”) the divine. This is commonly identified with a process of inward “knowing” or self-exploration, comparable to that encouraged by Plotinus (c. 205 – 270 AD). This is what helps separate Gnosticism from proto-orthodox views, where the orthodox views are considered to be superficial. The inadequate take then requires a correct form of interpretation. With “gnosis” comes a fuller insight that is considered to be more spiritual. Greater recognition of the deeper spiritual meanings of doctrines, scriptures, and rituals are obtained with this insight. However, as may be seen, the term “Gnostic” also had precedent usage in several ancient philosophical traditions, which must also be weighed in considering the very subtle implications of its appellation to a set of ancient religious groups”
And the word “esoteric” which means:
Definition of ESOTERIC
“a : designed for or understood by the specially initiated alone <a body of esoteric legal doctrine — B. N. Cardozo>
b : requiring or exhibiting knowledge that is restricted to a small group <esoteric terminology>; broadly : difficult to understand <esoteric subjects>
a : limited to a small circle <engaging in esoteric pursuits>
3: of special, rare, or unusual interest <esoteric building materials”.
These definitions are of extreme importance when discussing TRUE Christianity vs. the fraudulent Christianity that Jesus warned would come to the Church as time went by, and indeed it has.
As we said, modern Christians would declare any sort of Gnosticism or esoteric concepts an anathema, something to be totally Satanic and demonic, New Age mysticism or totally of the occult world. Our question is simple: is that belief correct, or is it false? As we said in Chapter One, if you cannot bring yourself to be intellectually and scripturally honest, then don’t read further, for this debate requires both.
The question for this chapter is simple. Could we truthfully and accurately declare that Jesus Christ Himself was a Gnostic, and further, did He teach any form of esoteric concepts? We will answer that question with Scripture alone. Many people and TV programs go to great lengths to prove that the Holy Bible does not contain any Gnostic or esoteric concepts, and that Christians only need to believe and have faith in Jesus and His work on the cross, and that is their ticket to heaven. We will examine that issue as well for in fact it flies in the face of multitudes of Scripture.
So, the first question is this, did Jesus claim Himself a Gnostic and did He claim any esoteric beliefs?
25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.
27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
Now remember the definition of Gnostic, that is, a direct relationship with the divine, and a superior knowledge of spiritual matters by direct contact and revelation of the Divine and the subject soul. Now obviously, one would have to admit that Jesus is not only claiming to be a Gnostic, but the Chief of all Gnostics in this verse, because He is claiming to be the ONLY ONE ON EARTH to have a direct spiritual knowledge of God the Father at this specific time. That is highly esoteric as well, for the meaning of the word means to have a confidential, secret, hidden spiritual knowledge revealed only to the a select few. It is a direct confirmation that Jesus was a Gnostic. There is much more, even though these verses prove it as written.
14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
Once again Jesus claims a very special relationship with God the Father and has direct spiritual knowledge of the Father. That is the very definition of a Gnostic. He goes a bit further in the above verse: He claims to have a direct SPIRITUAL KNOWLEDGE OF HIS SHEEP, and they have a DIRECT SPIRITUAL KNOWLEDGE OF HIM. How does anyone claim this is not a fully experiential spiritual knowledge of Jesus Christ towards His sheep, and His sheep KNOW HIM? How does anyone claim that this is NOT fully Gnostic and further fully esoteric? One has to be in total denial and totally blind not to understand what is clearly and plainly written.
Jesus Christ is bluntly claiming Gnostic knowledge of God and His true followers, called the sheep. The sheep in all cases are those that did as they were commanded and came into a Gnostic relationship with the Lord. We can prove this easily a bit later. But for now here is another verse:
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.”
Could anything be more direct, more bluntly put? This is why modern Christianity is such a deception and a lie. The modern Christian has been taught and firmly believes that faith and belief alone are all that is necessary to be saved. Jesus says something here that is openly Gnostic and openly esoteric and claims that THE WORLD DOES NOT KNOW HIM AT ALL, and further, the WORLD KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT THE REAL TRUTH WHATSOEVER.
Let’s take a look at Matthew 7 and we will find that Jesus sends away millions of Christians into eternal ruin because HE DID NOT “KNOW THEM”. I would point out that that is the ONLY REASON Jesus gives for their rejection. He did not have an esoteric or Gnostic KNOWLEDGE OF THEM. They did not come to the LIGHT to have their deeds reproved.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
This all sounds terribly Gnostic and if understood and accepted for what it says, is scary indeed, for it confirms Matthew Chapter 7 and WHY Jesus Christ rejects millions of Christians who were positive they were saved. Why? Because they embraced the FAKE teachers, preachers and evangelists out there and their fake salvation doctrine!!
